Question 1. What is Allied Health Professional traveling?

ANSWER: Allied Health Professionals are contracted for short term assignments through agencies that specialize in healthcare professional traveling. The agency normally supplies the healthcare professional with housing, reimbursement of travel expenses, help with licensing, health benefits, payroll services and support.

Question 2: How long are the Allied Health Professional Traveler assignments?

ANSWER: Allied Health Professional Traveler assignments can vary in length depending on the agency and the hospital or facility’s needs. A typical assignment might last for as little as 4 weeks or go as long as 26 weeks. In some cases, the assignment can be extended when the hospital or facility and traveler agree.

Question 3: Can a friend and I get assigned together?

ANSWER: Absolutely! If we have available positions for both you and your friend, you are welcome to travel together.

Question 4: What about housing for Allied Health Professional Travelers?

ANSWER: 8.North normally provides fully furnished housing…right down to the linens and kitchen supplies. All you need to bring is your clothes and groceries! In most cases, 8.North will provide you with a number of different housing options so you can choose your accommodations.

Question 5: If I don’t use the company’s housing, will I receive a housing allowance?

ANSWER: Yes. You will receive a monthly housing stipend or subsidy if you choose to arrange and pay for your own housing.

ANSWER: 8.North.Staffing will work hard to find a suitable location that will accept pets during your stay.

Question 7: How much would I make as a Traveling Allied Health Professional?

ANSWER: Often the Allied Health Professonal assignment location will play a big role in compensation levels. Typically you can expect that travel assignments will pay well above the average staff position. If you choose, 8.North also offers qualified travelers the opportunity to take a portion of their pay tax free!

Question 9: Who actually pays me?

ANSWER: You are paid by 8.North.Staffing. You also have the convenience of receiving your money directly with our optional Direct Deposit program linked to the bank of your choice.

Question 10: Do I need a license in every state I work?

ANSWER: Yes. 8.North.Staffing will be happy to assist you in acquiring the necessary license. Check to see if your current license is from a “Compact State”. This means you have the ability to be automatically accepted into another state that is part of this program.

Question 11: As a Allied Health Professional, what travel experience and background should I have?

ANSWER: Generally to become a traveling Allied Health Professional, you will need a minimum of one year of experience in your specialty.

Question 12: Where will I work?

ANSWER: 8.North.Staffing has a long list clients ranging from small rural hospitals and nursing homes, to large metropolitan hospitals and teaching facilities…the choice is yours.

Question 13: Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

ANSWER: No. The contractual relationship between you and 8.North.Staffing is based on each assignment.

Question 14: What would my travel nursing schedule look like?

ANSWER: Forty hours per week is considered full-time for travelers working 8-10 hour shifts. For those who work 12 hour shifts, 36 hours per week is considered full time. Overtime is a mutual decision between you and the hospital.

Question 15: How long will it take before I can start my first travel assignment?

ANSWER: The choice is largely yours. Once you have selected a position that meets your needs and experience, 8.North will present your profile for review by our client. We will then work to schedule a phone interview between you and our client. At that time, a start date will be determined. Some Allied Health Professional Travelers have begun their assignment within one week of profile submittal!

Question 16: Will I have flexibility in choosing my assignments?

ANSWER: You will have total and complete control. You will inform your 8.North personal assistant of your specific needs regarding locations and positions that interest you. You will NEVER be submitted for an opportunity without your prior approval.

Question 18: What happens after I accept a travel Allied Health Professional assignment?

ANSWER: Your 8.North personal assistant will process required paperwork, help you in acquiring a license if needed, secure housing, coordinate start dates and travel needs. Our goal is to simplify your move so all you do is show up and go to work!
